Reflections on the Mass Mediated Image
One thing that irritates me is homeroom teachers keeping their students from art class to work on other subjects. I feel art is just as important as any academic subject. I chose this for the subject of the first digital photomontage. To create it I used a scan of Nancy Walkup from School Arts magazine, an uploaded digital photograph of my son, a Google search photo of Einstein and a classroom hall, and a word bubble with text.
For the second, I used images to reflect the fact that a vast abundance of digital imagery is just a click away. Included images were collected from Google, as well as scanned from magazines and a newspaper. They were assembled in 14 layers. The third image was created to represent how film photography is dying. It is made with a background image from a Google search; magazine scans from my husband’s hunting magazines, and a digital photograph of a box from one of my dad’s Minolta camera. This image has 9 layers. The two are related in that the abundance of digital images is directly related to the death of film photography.
