Our Disciple Group started out meeting at Southern Grounds, a coffee shop in Neptune Beach. We quickly decided to travel the beaches, meeting at a different coffee shop each Wednesday morning. (We are now the Coffee, Jeans, & Jesus D Group.) Yesterday we met at Cup of Job on First Ave N in Jax Beach. As I was waiting for my coffee order, I saw a young man reading his Bible. I said something to him and he told me, “God is teaching me to not live in the past and not look at myself as who I was, but to look at myself as who I now am as a child of God.” As he said this, the whisper of the Holy Spirit was in my ear, “He needs to join the D Group this morning and throw off his grave clothes.” (Our lesson was on John 11 where Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead. When Lazarus comes out of the tomb he is covered with grave clothes. Jesus tells the people, "Unbind him..." In other words, throw off your grave clothes. Leave them behind. Move forward into your new life.) So I invited the young man to join us. What a blessing for us and for him. God is so good. He knew exactly what Karl needed to hear. And He knew we would gain from the knowledge Karl had of the Bible. Honestly I think he would join our women’s group every week if I asked him. Karl has a heart for Jesus and an incredible knowledge of the Word. What an incredible blessing God had for us!

I love this quote by Mike Donehey. If you haven't read his book, Finding God's Life for My Will, check it out. It's a good read.
This morning my friend and I met for coffee. There was a homeless man outside the coffee shop. Cheryl said she thought about the sermon at church this week as she passed by him. Pastor Stone had preached on John 9 where Jesus heals the blind man. He shared that people probably passed the blind man without even noticing him. My friend took the time to speak to the homeless man. Honestly, as I entered the shop I just passed by the man without even thinking about it. God really convicted my heart as I listened to my friend share that part of Pastor Stone's sermon. When I left I asked the man if he was hungry, if he needed anything to eat. He said, “No, I’m not hungry but I could use some water and I’m really having a hard time breathing. I think I need an ambulance.” It was obvious he was struggling so I went inside got him some water, and called 911. I was able to pray with Donnie as we waited for the paramedics. I’m so thankful for Pastor Stone's message. I’m sure Donnie is even more thankful. It taught me an important lesson about taking time to notice the blind that need Jesus. Please pray for Donnie.
My son JordyTom and I have a thing, whenever we say goodbye, we hug. I don’t remember when it started. It’s just a given. We always do it. Today I dropped off food at his front door because he has COVID. Since the vaccine is no guarantee against this new variant, he waved at me thru the etched glass door. That’s when it started. Without warning the tears came pouring down my face. I couldn’t get my hug. Oh, I hate you COVID. Are you ever going to leave? Will we ever be free of you?
Do you have a tribe of Prayer Warriors? When I lived in Jensen Beach these were the women I knew I could always count on to pray for me. I am thankful for each one of them. If you don't have a tribe of prayer warriors let me know. Everyone needs someone to prayer for them! #prayerchangeslives #prayerwarriors #mytribe |
