Middle schoolers have been developing drawing habits based on observation. Taking 30 seconds to several minutes, students created blind contour drawings recording what their eyes were seeing. Here are some of the drawings.
I'm looking forward to seeing Melanie Izaguirre, Jordan Miller, Natasha Luce, Kaycy Hirstius, Keara Bell, Decker Tallbacka, Megan Corcoran, and Alex Chase in the Art Room, Wednesday, August 26th, 2:30-3:30 for our first NJAHS meeting of the year!
I'm excited to start another course this week through University of Florida's Distance Learning Program. I will be taking Curriculum in Teaching Art with Professor Craig Roland. This course should help me develop a better understanding of "various theories and approaches to planning art curricula". I look forward to improving as an art educator and implementing new ideas in the art program at FBCS.
I enjoyed seeing so many of our students today in Art class. I am blessed to be a part of such a wonderful school! Kindergarteners began creating shape people and sixth through eighth graders are perfecting and refining their drawing skills. Below is a video on paper Kente weaving that our second and third graders watched. They will begin weaving their own next week.
That's right---I'm unpacking boxes of new supplies. I'm dusting off the laptops and plugging in the headphones. I've planned lessons that will make you think and lessons that will push you to create. Let the new school year begin!
