This week we visited Hampton Beach, a fun filled beach town located along the shore of New Hampshire. While there we happened upon the Annual Master Sand Sculpting Competition. As with all big-time competitions, the creations go way beyond simple castles, turning mere sand and water into true art. See for yourself, here are a few pictures of the entries.
One thing on my to do list for the summer is to provide a free online art camp. I plan for it to include 5 lessons--one lesson a day for a week. When I began thinking about this project, I created a pinterest board to organize different ideas. Boy, was I overwhelmed as I realized some of the challenges I was faced with. To begin with, the lessons need to be simple enough for younger children but challenging enough for older, more accomplished artists. Also, the supplies need to be things people have at home, things that are inexpensive, and things that can easily be found at the local Walmart or craft store. I was afraid this would limit me but it has actually forced me to think of creative ways to use stuff around the house. While I am behind in putting things together, I hope to pull it off and get it up and running by July.
