This morning my friend and I met for coffee. There was a homeless man outside the coffee shop. Cheryl said she thought about the sermon at church this week as she passed by him. Pastor Stone had preached on John 9 where Jesus heals the blind man. He shared that people probably passed the blind man without even noticing him. My friend took the time to speak to the homeless man. Honestly, as I entered the shop I just passed by the man without even thinking about it. God really convicted my heart as I listened to my friend share that part of Pastor Stone's sermon. When I left I asked the man if he was hungry, if he needed anything to eat. He said, “No, I’m not hungry but I could use some water and I’m really having a hard time breathing. I think I need an ambulance.” It was obvious he was struggling so I went inside got him some water, and called 911. I was able to pray with Donnie as we waited for the paramedics. I’m so thankful for Pastor Stone's message. I’m sure Donnie is even more thankful. It taught me an important lesson about taking time to notice the blind that need Jesus. Please pray for Donnie.
