Third thru fifth graders experimented with how lines can be used to show movement, mood, etc. and discussed the use of line in Batiks. They created a pencil line drawing on white paper. When they were satisfied with their drawing, they traced over the pencil lines with black sharpie. White cloth was then stretched over their line drawings and the students used Elmer's Washable Gel Glue to draw the lines on their cloth. Once the glue was dry, students used Acrylic paint to color their cloth. After the paint dried, the glue was washed out to create these beautiful batiks.
